It’s been a while since I’ve written my last post, but my blog has gone over an entire makeover!!! It’s been months in the making so I’m so excited to share it with you guys!
I was hesitate to write this post because let’s be honest, Ava’s room isn’t “finished” yet. There’s no decor, books, wall art, etc. BUT, I wanted to share because I feel like too many times we see the before and after that were like a week apart, and you’re like….uhhh, y’all just dumped some serious $$$ into this room in a week.
I still will complete a final blog post once everything is finished with sources to everything, but her is her new room currently! In today’s blog post, I’ll be sharing about the two important elements that I’m decorating everything around: the bed and the mattress. My little baby is growing to a full blown toddler, so I want a room that she can grow with and grow into.
The biggest question was, do I keep her in a crib OR transition her into a big girl bed? I’m going to be honest, she never really slept in her crib. I knew a full size bed would be too big for her, so I opted to go with the DHP Jenny Lind Twin Bed. I love the simple design and the fact in the decor can easily be switched out if she decides to like a purple or yellow in a few years. Plus, I was able to put together the entire bed in less than an hour. #score
The next piece to decide on was the mattress. Crib mattress are great for parents: firm, waterproof, and easy to clean. BUT, they don’t appear comfortable. Since Ava was used to sleeping in our bed (and we LOVE our mattress), I wanted a mattress similar in comfort, but suitable for a toddler’s twin bed. We decided on the Signature Sleep Honest Elements Mattress. The mattress is no only USDA certified organic and made with chemical free wool, the mattress is made with double-sided reversible construction that extends the life of each sleep by optimizing comfort and support.
As adults, we opt for comfort first, decor second. That’s the approach I’m taking on Ava’s toddler room as well! I hope y’all have enjoyed part one! 🙂
