Baby Melton #2 + 1st Pregnancy Update

19th Jul ' 19

Hi friends!! If you saw my post earlier this week, I shared we are expecting baby Melton #2! I’m definitely excited to share this journey with you guys! I didn’t get a chance to share much the first time we were pregnant, since this little blog didn’t exist until she was basically born, so let’s get right into the questions.

How did I find out I was pregnant?
I nursed (well pumped) with Ava until she was 12 or 13 months old. Once we stopped, it takes a while to get your period back. Mine didn’t come back until (I think) 15 or 16 months. I had been on birth control since I was a teen up until I stopped a couple months after Sean and I got married. I didn’t know what my cycle was like. I didn’t know if it was regular, irregular, heavy, normal, etc. I wanted to see what my body would do naturally. I started trying my cycle and found out my periods were anywhere from 30-35 days apart. Well, I was due for my period right before Memorial Day and it didn’t come. I waited a couple days because I knew my period could still come. I actually took a test on Memorial Day in a Buffalo Wild Wings (classy! HA), and it immediately came back positive.

How did you tell your husband?
So I was really creative the first time around, but this time, not so much. Father’s Day wasn’t for a couple more weeks and I knew it would take a week for a Big Sister shirt to come in. This time, Ava walked up to Sean once he got home holding the stick saying “look daddy!!”

How many weeks am I?
16 weeks! Baby 2 is due 1/1/20, but I’m pretty sure they will arrive some time in December. I’ll share more about this next week in a more detailed post.

Symptoms?
Nausea!! I didn’t have this the first time around. I actually remember going to the doctor when I was pregnant with Ava I asked the doctor if everything was OK because I wasn’t feeling anything. The nausea came around 10 weeks and has come and gone since. Diet Ginger Ale has been my best friend. Other than that, I’ve been very fortunate and that’s been the only symptom with Ava and this baby.

How far apart will they be?
They will be a couple months shy of 2.5 years apart!

How is it being pregnant and having a toddler running around?
CRAZY! By crazy I mean it can definitely be hard a times. Before Ava, when I was tired or my feet hurt, I could either go to sleep or just lay down and not do anything. With Ava, she’s either wanting to go play, jump on me, or looks at me and says “no nap mommy!” I do find myself worn out some days, but Sean is so great at picking up and playing with her when he gets home.

How many babies do we want?
Saved the two most asked questions for last! Before this baby was even a thought, we knew we only wanted 2 (maybe 3…emphasis on the maybe). We’re thinking about it from a financial aspect. Right now we have two cars, two collages, two weddings, two everything. We’re like 99.9% positive regardless of if we have 2 girls or a girl and a boy, this will be our last baby.

Are we finding out the gender?
YES! There is no way we couldn’t. We have our gender reveal planned for next weekend, so stay tuned!

Thank you guys for all of the support and well wishes! It means the world to us to know this baby is already so loved!
