The new year is in full force and now that baby Owen is here, we’re trying to get back to a routine and new normal. If you’re like me, pregnant or not, you might be trying to detox and cleanse after one too many holiday desserts. #guilty
Mr. Wayne, our pug, had one too many table scraps so I wanted to start the new year off with a kickstart to get him back to strictly dog food and healthy treats. I’m excited to partner with Solid Gold and share a little more about their holistic approach to restore your pets gut health and share the products they offer. You can find them online at Amazon or chewy.com and in store at Petsmart and Petco (among other locations)! You can find where you can buy Solid Gold near you here.
Products We’ve Tried:
Mighty Mini Toy & Small Breed Dog Food: The first thing that attracted me to Solid Gold was the fact that they offer grain free food. If you look at other major brands, you’d be surprised by the first ingredients in each of their dog foods! Smaller breeds need a smaller kibble that’s packed full of nutrition and is easy to digest for optimal gut health. Small, dense kibble, like Mighty Mini, gives your small breed, like Mr. Wayne, the nutrition needed to fuel him. Pugs are prone to weight gain by nature of their breed, so I also look for foods that are lower in fat and calories. The first four ingredients are Salmon, Ocean Fish Meal (Atlantic Menhaden Herring), Lentils, and Peas. Mighty Mini also offers Beef, Turkey, Lamb and Chicken-based formulas!
Bone Broth: We’ve tried both the Beef Bone Broth With Lavender & Chamomile and Chicken Bone Broth with Lavender & Chamomile. You can either add it as a way to moisten dry dog food or you can add it to their water as a way to add flavor. We add two tablespoons to his water to encourage him to eat slower during his meals. If you know pugs, they SCARF their food down like they’ve never eaten before.
Products We Haven’t Tried (yet):
SeaMeal Powder or Chews: We have this, but I’m slow to add in supplements after switching dog foods. I like to make sure Wayne’s stomach isn’t upset and there are no adverse reactions. You’re probably like “What is SeaMeal?” Well, let me tell ya! It’s a supplement made with Superfoods, including seaweed, flaxseed, and omega fatty acids to help maintain a healthy skin and coat. It also helps promote a healthy gut!
Super Foods Chewy Dog Treats: Like most dogs, Wayne loves treats and these come in flavor combos like beef/mango, chicken/ginger, and turkey/sweet potato.
