One thing you might not know about me is that I love baking! I don’t necessarily like to keep baked goods in my house, because hello, at 32 weeks pregnant, they’d be gone in a heartbeat. I do, however, love making them for our family and neighbors.
Cake Pops are SUPER easy to make! During Fall, head down the baking aisle at your local grocery store and you’ll see a variety of fall-flavored deliciousness. There is a box of Spice Cake Mix. Try it! I promise you won’t regret it!
The ingredients call for:
1 Package of Spice Cake Mix
1 Cup Water
1/2 Cup Vegetable Oil
***If you’re looking to make the cake a little healthier, one secret my mom taught me was switch out the vegetable oil for applesauce. You won’t notice a difference!
Follow the directions on the cake box for however long is needed to cook the cake. Once the cake is baked, make sure you let the cake cool before you start smashing it! PS. This is fun activity to do with your toddler!
Once your cake is cool, grab a large mixing bowl and start crumbling it up. I used two 8 inch round pans and they filled a large mixing bowl quickly. From there start with 1/2 cup of frosting (I chose cream cheese) and start mixing the two together.
*you want the consistency of dough. If you’re not forming one big ball with your cake and icing mixture, keep adding a little icing.
Make 1′ balls and place them on a baking sheet. Let them cool for about 2 hours in the refrigerator. Once fully cooled, melt your candy melts. I chose Wilton Candy Melts in White. Dip your cake balls in and add your favorite toppings, in this case sprinkles and pecans! Super easy right?!
